Social Tenure Domain Model (STDM)

The Social Tenure Domain Model (STDM) is a QGIS-embedded software tool within the Fit-For-Purpose land administration framework. STDM aids in cataloging diverse land tenure types, spanning informal to formal rights. By combining satellite and spatial data with on-ground surveys, local tenure holders delineate land tenure on high-resolution satellite images. These images are then digitized, creating database entries linked to spatial features. In the context of Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN), STDM identifies stakeholders and supports LDN planning with local input. It requires computer facilities, QGIS skills, up-to-date satellite imagery, capacity building, and applies mainly at local scales.
