Evaluating Land Management Options (ELMO)
Evaluating Land Management Options (ELMO) is a surveying tool designed to uncover the motivations driving local land users' decisions regarding land management. It achieves this by engaging in discussions about known or practiced sustainable land management (SLM) alternatives with respondents. ELMO assigns weights to resource requirements and ranks positive and negative impacts. In the context of Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN), ELMO proves valuable by identifying suitable actions and evaluating the socioeconomic landscape. However, its effectiveness relies on a trained and accepted interviewer, along with active local knowledge and participation.
