Background
The Capacity Development Working Group is one of three GEO-LDN Working Groups. It builds an open, scalable capacity-building ecosystem aligned with SDG 15.3, informed by outputs from the Data Analytics & Standards Working Group.
Objective
Strengthen country, institutional, and practitioner capabilities to plan, implement, and monitor LDN through postgraduate training, MOOCs, case studies, and helpdesk support.
Workstreams 2026–2027
- GGW Monitoring & Intervention: Integrated landscape modelling, standard data protocols, decision-support tools. Lead partners: CBAS, UENR, CSE, UWC.
- Postgraduate Program Extension: Replicate the UENR model with the University of Zimbabwe (adaptation, accreditation, launch). Lead partners: UENR, UWC, UZ.
- MOOCs & E-Learning: Multilingual, mobile-first, micro-learning; target 1,000+ participants across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Partners: GEO-LDN Sec, RCMRD, UENR, CBAS, UWC, UZ.
- Case Studies & Helpdesk: Country decision-support documentation, multilingual helpdesk, resource library.
- Joint Publications (with Data Analytics & Standards): Peer-reviewed outputs and a best-practices guide.
Mode of collaboration
Demand-driven virtual meetings; convenings at major international conferences; open calls for reviews/comments.
