The Hague | 13–15 October 2025

From 13–15 October 2025, the EuroGEO Workshop took place at the World Forum The Hague, Netherlands. Organized by the European Commission, the EuroGEO Secretariat, and the Netherlands Space Office, the event brought together Earth observation (EO) experts, policymakers, private sector actors, and representatives of GEO flagships and initiatives such as Copernicus and ECMWF to advance collective Earth Intelligence.

GEO-LDN was represented by co-chair Antje Hecheltjen in two sessions: Day 1’s Water and Land Sustainability session and Day 3’s Soil session, chaired by Tomislav Hengl (OpenGeoHub).

One standout moment was the presentation by Nataliia Kussul (National Technical University of Ukraine, Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, and University of Maryland), who showcased how EO data is used to assess agricultural damage in Ukraine, mapping crop loss, abandoned fields, and areas where farmers have returned.

The workshop featured numerous technical sessions and discussions, emphasizing the power of collaboration in addressing complex EO challenges. A closing session brought together insights from Action Groups and Member States, shaping the next steps for the EuroGEO Implementation Plan and reaffirming Europe’s role in the global GEO community.

A big thank you to EuroGEO for hosting a platform that fostered exchange, learning, and new connections.
