Agro-Ecological Zoning (AEZ) applies land evaluation principles to assess natural resources and identify suitable agricultural land-use options. It evaluates crop suitability and production potential based on eco-physiological characteristics and the climatic and soil requirements of different crops under defined input and management conditions. By identifying constraints and opportunities, AEZ supports planning decisions that are productive, sustainable, and resilient to climate variability. The framework contributes to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by providing information on agricultural production risks and opportunities, irrigation water demand, and crop adaptation options.
