From 6–9 October 2025 in Dakar, Senegal, AfriGEO, the African initiative of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), convened its 9th Symposium under the theme ‘From Data to Impact: Strengthening Africa’s Geospatial Future. Mark Grasy from the GEO-LDN Secretariat attended Symposium.
Highlights included:
- Session 7: Gender Inclusivity and Intersectionality, moderated by Dr. Rokhaya Samba Diene (SGNS) and Ms. Tumisang Modiole (DSTI South Africa), featuring Jacquelyne Nnassuna (RCMRD), Jagila Jantiku (NASRDA), Prof. Amos Kabo-bah (UENR), and Dieynaba Seck (CSE). The session highlighted how inclusive geospatial approaches strengthen gender equity and climate resilience.
- Technical Session 6: Awareness Platform, convened by RCMRD, CSE, Direction du Cadastre, and PROCASEF, with Dr. Shomboro Karau (NASRDA) and Amadou Sall (CSE), focused on land restoration and data-driven decision-making.
