GEO-LDN at the AfriGEO Symposium 2025

From 6–9 October 2025 in Dakar, Senegal, AfriGEO, the African initiative of the Group on Earth Observations (GEO), convened its 9th Symposium under the theme ‘From Data to Impact: Strengthening Africa’s Geospatial Future. Mark Grasy from the GEO-LDN Secretariat attended Symposium.

Highlights included:

  • Session 7: Gender Inclusivity and Intersectionality, moderated by Dr. Rokhaya Samba Diene (SGNS) and Ms. Tumisang Modiole (DSTI South Africa), featuring Jacquelyne Nnassuna (RCMRD), Jagila Jantiku (NASRDA), Prof. Amos Kabo-bah (UENR), and Dieynaba Seck (CSE). The session highlighted how inclusive geospatial approaches strengthen gender equity and climate resilience.
  • Technical Session 6: Awareness Platform, convened by RCMRD, CSE, Direction du Cadastre, and PROCASEF, with Dr. Shomboro Karau (NASRDA) and Amadou Sall (CSE), focused on land restoration and data-driven decision-making.
