Dr. Nausheen Mazhar is Chairperson and Associate Professor in the Department of Geography at Lahore College for Women University, Lahore, and Head of the International Resource Center (IRC), DFDI. Her interdisciplinary research focuses on land degradation, desertification, droughts, sustainable land management, sedimentation in reservoirs, and disaster risk reduction, with particular emphasis on dryland communities and policy responses to minimize the impacts of desertification.

Highlight from CRIC23 in Panama

During the 23rd Session of the Committee for the Review of the Implementation of the Convention (CRIC23), held from 1–5 December 2025, the International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals (CBAS) hosted the side event “Innovative Technologies for Land Degradation Monitoring and Intervention.”

GEO Global Forum 2025 in Rome

From 5 to 9 May, GEO-LDN actively engaged in the GEO Global Forum in Rome, contributing to discussions on the value of Earth observation data for monitoring and national reporting processes. The week highlighted the relevance of geospatial information in supporting countries to achieve Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN) and reinforced GEO-LDN’s positioning as a Flagship Initiative.
