#12 GEO-LDN Online Seminar

Achieving LDN with Geodata & Community-led Restoration Measures

The 12 GEO-LDN Online Seminar took place on 24 October 2025, focusing on “How to Achieve LDN through the Use of Geodata and Community-led Restoration Measures.” The session explored how geospatial datasets are used to track land degradation, support national reporting, and inform restoration strategies at local and regional scales. It further emphasized the role of community-led restoration measures, showcasing how local actors contribute to national LDN commitments. Drawing on Nigeria’s experience, the seminar highlighted collaboration between governmental, scientific, and humanitarian actors in operationalizing LDN through data and on-the-ground actions. Key discussions addressed challenges and opportunities related to data access, capacity building, institutional coordination, and scaling up community efforts, with actionable insights for other regions. Presentations were delivered by Etim William, Ademuyiwa Oyewumi, and Patience Adaje, with moderation by Julia Bayer-Cremer.
