Monitoring land degradation: the MISLAND platform and its real-world application in North Africa
The fourth GEO-LDN Online Seminar, “Monitoring land degradation: the MISLAND platform and its real-world application in North Africa”, took place on 11 July 2023 from 16:00 to 17:00 CEST. The seminar focused on the MISLAND platform, developed by the OSS-North Africa consortium, which supports land degradation monitoring in North Africa using earth observation data.
Mr. Mustapha Mimouni, Head of the Remote Sensing and GIS Unit at the Sahara and Sahel Observatory (OSS), presented the organization’s experience in land degradation monitoring and assessment. He also introduced the practical applications of the MISLAND platform, including its linkage to Trends.Earth, and emphasized the importance of collaboration and strengthening networks of experts in this field.
